The Founding

 

The history of Ekeri Dairy, one of Turkey’s most successful brands, began in 1977 with Atan Ekeri’s initiative to supply ayran to car manufacturers in Bursa. Production began in 1981 in a factory located on Ekeri’s farm, which was equipped with the latest technology at the time. The opening of the Izmir regional office in 1983 was a critical step towards establishing a national brand. The establishment of the Istanbul regional office in 1987 made Ekeri’s presence in this competitive region more significant and tangible.

 

After Altan Ekeri’s sudden death in 1996, the company’s management passed to his children, Ahmet Ekeri and Nevra Ekeri. In 1997, Eker produced its first retail-sized packages of sour cream and ayran, a significant step forward in the development of its most ambitious product category, the ayran. In 1997, they expanded their distribution footprint by opening regional offices in Ankara, followed by Eskişehir, Adana, Antalya and Gebze in the following years.

 

The First Big Step

 

Eker began the 2000s by setting goals and prioritizing the company’s growth. In 2006, it entered into a partnership with the French company Andros. This partnership increased the company’s production capacity and product range, bringing about major changes in the sector. Based on the knowledge and experience gained in cooperation with Andros, a new direction was successfully established in 2007 - the first production of traditional dairy desserts in Turkey, such as Soufangle, Sutlaci, Kazandibi and Keşkyul, among others. Eker moved to a new factory in 2012, to celebrate the company's 35th anniversary. In the new world-class production facility, built on 105 hectares of land with an area of ​​23,000 m² in Mustafakemalpasa, Eker's daily milk processing capacity increased to 600 tons. Exactly five years after moving to the new factory, the process of expanding and increasing the capacity of the factory was completed in 2017. In 2018, Eker's annual milk processing capacity reached 250,000 tons.

 

The Ekeri Dairy Factory, equipped with advanced technologies in the Turkish dairy industry, has a capacity of 39,000 m². Ekeri’s daily growing production is supported by an extensive distribution network. The number of the company’s distribution centers reached 46 by 2025 and employs a total of 2,200 employees.

One of the most important values ​​for the company is social responsibility. This means putting the health and well-being of consumers first, ensuring that all products produced are safe and beneficial to the health of consumers.

 

Such responsibility begins with the selection of high-quality raw materials. By choosing only reliable suppliers and adhering to strict quality control, the work process is ensured in such a way that no harmful substances are allowed into the product production chain at any stage, which is strictly controlled. From the very beginning of production, every step is designed to protect consumer health and deepen the trust already gained.

 

Modern technologies also play an important role. Equipped with state-of-the-art systems, the factory reduces risks, increases efficiency and ensures consistency in production. Automation and innovative processes contribute to the delivery of food that meets both local and international standards.

 

It is because of this social responsibility that the company does not stop at national regulations. It goes further by adhering to global food safety certifications, which demonstrate its commitment to excellence. Internationally recognized certifications give consumers the confidence that the products they consume are not only delicious, but also manufactured in compliance with all safety standards.
